Three Generations. One Standard.

Bob Harvey learned roofing from his father, who learned from his father. Serving Northern Utah families since 1988.

How did Bob Harvey Roofing get started?

Bob Harvey did not come to roofing as a career choice. He grew up in it. His grandfather was a roofer, his father was a roofer, and Bob started learning the trade at age 12, working alongside his dad on real jobs. By the time most people are figuring out what they want to do for a living, Bob already had years of hands-on roofing experience.

In 1988, Bob took what three generations of his family had taught him and built a roofing company of his own in Northern Utah. That company is Bob Harvey Roofing. Nearly 40 years later, it is still family-owned, still based in Layton, and still doing the work the same way Bob's family always did: carefully, honestly, and with pride in the finished product.

What makes Bob Harvey Roofing different from other roofing companies?

The roofing industry has a reputation problem. Fly-by-night contractors, storm chasers, and companies that send whoever is available that day are common in Northern Utah. Bob built his company to be the opposite of that.

Every person who shows up to work on your roof is a Bob Harvey Roofing employee. Not a subcontractor. Not someone hired off a labor board for the week. Our crew members are trained by us, insured by us, and held to the same standard Bob's father held him to. When John Mecham has been running crews for over 20 years and Mike Beck has been fixing roofs for more than 25, that kind of experience does not happen with rotating subcontractors. It happens when people are invested in the company they work for.

Why does Bob Harvey Roofing use W-2 employees instead of subcontractors?

This is a question worth asking any roofer you interview. Many companies use subcontractors because it is cheaper and more flexible for the business. The problem is that it is not better for the homeowner.

With subcontractors, the person doing the work may never have worked for that company before. Their insurance situation can be unclear. Their investment in the outcome of your job is limited. When we use W-2 employees, every person on your roof has a stake in doing the job right because they are coming back to work for Bob Harvey Roofing tomorrow, and the day after that.

Bob made the W-2 decision early, and it has never changed. It costs more to run the business this way. He will tell you it is worth it.

Who is the Harvey family?

Bob and his wife have raised a large family in Northern Utah. The grandkids now number 27, with a few great-grandchildren added to the mix. When you work with a family-owned company, that is not just a phrase on a website. It is a reflection of what the owner cares about and what they have built their life around.

That same sense of responsibility to family, to quality, and to the people depending on you is what drives how Bob runs this company. Homeowners in Davis County and Weber County have trusted Bob Harvey Roofing with their homes for decades, and many of them are repeat customers who have called us back more than once over the years. That kind of loyalty is earned, not marketed.

What is Bob Harvey's approach to roofing?

Bob's philosophy has always been simple: do the job right, use quality materials, and be straight with people about what they need. He has seen enough roofing shortcuts over the years to know what they cost homeowners down the road.

When someone from our team comes out for an assessment, they are going to tell you what they actually find. If your roof has a few more years of life left, they will say so. If it needs attention now, they will explain why. The goal is not to sell you a roof. It is to give you an honest picture of what you have and what your options are. You should walk away from every assessment knowing more about your roof than you did before we arrived.

That approach, built on three generations of roofing knowledge and nearly 40 years in Northern Utah, is what Bob Harvey Roofing has always stood for.
