The answer depends a lot on what kind of repair was done, who did it, and what condition the rest of the roof is in. Here is an honest breakdown by repair type, plus the factors that affect longevity in Utah's specific climate.
Pipe boot replacement
A new pipe boot installed correctly should last 10 to 15 years, sometimes longer. The rubber deteriorates over time from UV exposure, so eventually it will need to be replaced again. But you should get a solid decade or more from a quality boot.

Shingle replacement
If we replace a section of shingles with matching product, those new shingles should last as long as the product's rated lifespan in our climate. The caveat is that the surrounding older shingles may not last as long. A repair section on a 15-year-old roof will outlast the original shingles around it, which is fine. It just means the rest of the roof may need attention eventually.
Flashing repair
New flashing installed correctly should last the life of the roof. Flashing failures are almost always caused by improper installation or sealant breakdown, not by the metal itself wearing out. If the repair is done right, it should not need to be revisited.
Sealant and caulk repairs
These are the shortest-lived repairs. Roofing sealant exposed to the elements typically lasts 3 to 7 years before it starts to crack and shrink. If a repair relies heavily on sealant rather than proper flashing or material replacement, it has a shorter lifespan. Sealant is a supplement to a good repair, not a substitute for one.
What affects repair longevity
Quality of the repair. This is the biggest factor. A repair done by an experienced roofer using the right materials and techniques will last significantly longer than a quick patch. The difference between a $200 repair that lasts 2 years and a $350 repair that lasts 10 is the skill behind it.
Age of the surrounding roof. A repair on a 10-year-old roof is going to serve you longer than the same repair on a 22-year-old roof, because the components around the repair area are in better condition. If the rest of the roof is approaching end of life, even a perfect repair is on borrowed time.
Utah's climate. UV, temperature swings, hail, and wind all take their toll on repairs just like they do on the original roof. A repair that might last 15 years in a milder climate might last 10 to 12 in ours.
"If you find yourself calling about the same area within a year or two, either the repair was not done correctly, or the underlying problem is bigger than a repair can address."
Our approach to repair warranties
We stand behind our repair work. If something we repaired fails because of our workmanship, we come back and make it right. That is the advantage of working with a company that has been in the same community for nearly 40 years. We are not going anywhere, and our reputation depends on every job we do, even the small ones.
