A shingle purchased from any supply house comes with a basic manufacturer warranty. But the extended coverage that protects you for 30 to 50 years? That only comes through a contractor who has earned the manufacturer's highest certifications.
Bob Harvey Roofing holds the top-tier credentials from the manufacturers we install. That is not marketing talk. It is the difference between standard coverage and the most comprehensive warranty protection available.
ShingleMaster Premier is CertainTeed's top-tier contractor credential. It replaced what was previously called SELECT ShingleMaster in January 2026, and Bob Harvey Roofing was among the first contractors in Utah to receive this designation. It recognizes companies with the most experienced, best-trained installation teams in the industry.
Earning ShingleMaster Premier is not a matter of paying a fee or signing up for a program. CertainTeed requires that 75% of our shingle installation workforce plus all job supervisors hold individual Master Craftsman certifications. We must also have employees who have passed advanced Shingle Quality Specialist testing, maintain customer satisfaction scores of 4 out of 5 or higher, carry full insurance, pass a Business Fiscal Responsibility exam, and commit to ongoing continuing education. CertainTeed audits these requirements and can revoke the credential at any time.
What does this mean for your warranty? When we install a CertainTeed Integrity Roof System (which includes specific underlayment, starter strips, shingles, ridge caps, and ventilation components from CertainTeed), you become eligible for SureStart PLUS extended warranty protection. This is not available through non-certified contractors, period.
We install CertainTeed's 4-STAR SureStart PLUS as our standard warranty tier. This covers materials, labor, tear-off, and disposal for manufacturing defects for up to 50 years on a single-family home. That means if CertainTeed finds a manufacturing defect 25 or 35 years from now, they cover the full cost of fixing it. No proration, no declining coverage.
For homeowners who want the absolute maximum protection, we also offer the 5-STAR SureStart PLUS upgrade. The 5-STAR adds a 30-year workmanship warranty backed directly by CertainTeed (not by us as the contractor) and extends transferability to 25 years. If something happened to any roofing company, the manufacturer-backed workmanship warranty would still be in force. That is a level of protection very few roofing contractors in Utah can offer.
CertainTeed's standard limited warranty (what you get with any contractor) provides 10 years of SureStart coverage for materials. After year 10, coverage becomes prorated and declines every year. With our 4-STAR coverage, that protection stays at full value for up to 50 years. The difference in long-term value is significant.
A few other things our Premier status unlocks that are worth knowing about: CertainTeed's standard wind warranty covers up to 110 mph. As a Premier contractor, your roof qualifies for an upgraded 130 mph wind warranty for the first 15 years when we install the complete Integrity Roof System with matching starter strips and ridge caps. CertainTeed also sends homeowners a Customer TrackRecord survey after every job to verify customer satisfaction, and they periodically conduct their own roof inspections to confirm our installations meet Integrity Roof System standards. We welcome that accountability.
As a Premier contractor, we also receive $8,000 in SureStart PLUS extended warranty funds annually through CertainTeed's Roofer's Rewards program. That is not a cost we pass on to you. It is part of how CertainTeed invests in their credentialed contractors and ensures warranty registrations stay active.

What makes Duro-Last different from other commercial roofing systems is their approach to quality control. Every membrane is custom-fabricated in a factory to fit your building's exact dimensions, which eliminates up to 85% of the field seams that typically cause leaks. Flashings, stacks, drains, and curb details are all prefabricated under controlled conditions rather than hand-cut on a rooftop.
Here is the part most building owners do not know: every Duro-Last commercial installation is independently inspected by a Duro-Last Quality Assurance Technical Representative before a warranty is issued. That is not our foreman checking our own work. It is a Duro-Last employee who inspects every seam, every flashing, every detail. Duro-Last contractor awards are based on installation volume and QA inspection scores. To achieve Elite status, a contractor must install over 150,000 square feet of Duro-Last systems while maintaining high quality grades. Platinum requires 500,000 square feet with an average QA score of 95 or above out of 100. These are not participation trophies.

Supreme Warranties cover materials, labor, and consequential damage (damage to the building contents caused by a roof failure). Duro-Last was the first manufacturer to offer consequential damage coverage. These are available with the custom-fabricated Duro-Last and Duro-Last X membranes.
Ultra Warranties cover materials and labor with optional high wind and hail coverage. Basic Warranties provide long-term material coverage. Standard options range from 15 to 20 years with No Dollar Limit (NDL) terms, and Duro-Last does not exclude ponding water, something many other manufacturers use as a warranty exclusion.

TufDek is a heavy-duty, slip-resistant vinyl membrane that creates a completely waterproof surface over plywood or concrete substrates. CertainTeed warranties are transferable once to the next homeowner. If the transfer happens during the SureStart period, the new owner receives a 50-year warranty. If the transfer happens after the SureStart period, coverage continues for two years from the transfer date. This transferability adds real value to your home when you sell. Duro-Last commercial warranties can also be transferred, though terms vary by warranty level.
A manufacturer warranty covers defects in the product itself. A workmanship warranty covers errors in installation. Most roofing companies offer their own workmanship warranty, but that warranty is only as good as the company behind it. If they close, your workmanship coverage disappears. With CertainTeed's 5-STAR SureStart PLUS warranty, the workmanship warranty is backed by CertainTeed for 30 years, not by the contractor. That means even if something happened to our company, your workmanship coverage would remain in place through CertainTeed.
If your contractor offered only their own workmanship warranty, that coverage disappears when they close. The manufacturer warranty on the shingles themselves would still apply, but you would only have standard coverage, not the extended protection that comes with a certified installation.
